My main goal for Outdoor Leadership was to experience new things in the outdoors. I knew I had a passion for it, and wanted to learn and work with people other than my Dad. Over the course of 2 years, I went from skiing the resort every weekend, to going on multi day back country ski trips. I have grown as an outdoors person, leader, and person in general more than I ever imagined possible in that first day of Grade 11 B block.
So, what now?
My next step would be to become more independent. I have a very solid base of knowledge and support, and now is the time to put it to test. I have a lot of change coming my way as I graduate high school, and the skills I have acquired through OL will help me through this greatly. I am equally excited and nervous to be adventuring into new, unfamiliar places. I will not have my Dad, or Mr.Harwood to follow along, and I will be making my own decisions which will be followed by my own consequences. To do this, I will need to research pre-trip much more than I would before, and be more aware of my surroundings. I will cherish and remember my years of friendship, experiences, and memories of OL for the rest of my life.
