Outdoor Leadership is a year long course at Howe Sound Secondary which covers everything from CPR to Avalanche training and Wilderness First Aid. Not only do we have the opportunity to learn such valuable skills in the classroom, we also have the privilege to go outside, and learn hands-on. Our first semester consists of in-class learning; starting with leadership skills, and finishing with Back country safety. However, the day and overnight trips last throughout first and second semester. After having acquired this knowledge, the second semester is outside the classroom. It consists of quick meetings, overnight trips and planning, and finally, our week long backpacking trip.
